Caledonia Care & Repair – Angus and Perth & Kinross

Care & Repair offers free, confidential information and advice for older people and people with a disability who are homeowners or private tenants, to enable them to improve, repair or adapt their homes and stay comfortably in their community. The types of support assistance available:

• small repairs
• disabled adaptations
• safety & security advice

Our Care & Repair Service is available for older people and people with a disability who are homeowners or private tenants who;

• live in Angus or Perth & Kinross
• live in your own house or rent privately
• need to adapt their home

Once and assessment has been made by an Occupational Therapist in your area, Care & Repair can provide a free service to assist with grant applications to Angus, Perth & Kinross Council. The most common types of adaptations carried out that qualify for grant funding are: the removal of a bath and installation of a level access shower; stairlifts and ramped access to your main door. We do not carry out the work ourselves, but we can:- • organise for drawings to be prepared after assessment by your Community Occupational Therapist • obtain quotations from selected contractors • discuss costs, help with grant applications, and suggest ways to raise finance • help with paperwork • put you in touch with other agencies that can help • provide advice and support throughout the process   *Please note that the council may not be able to provide a grant if you start work prior to the application being approved. Care & Repair Service can only act as an intermediator and any Contract organised through Care & Repair for disabled adaptations is between the contractor and the owner of the property.

This service is only available to residents of Perth & Kinross – our Care & Repair Small Repairs Scheme is not an emergency call out service and doesn’t not include work to gas installations, decoration, gardening work or outbuildings. A small repair is estimated to cost less than £500,  Examples of the type of works to the home which qualify under our small repair schemes include: JOINERY – replace door locks, small kitchen repairs BUILDER WORK – repairs to front steps, patch roughcasting ROOFING – repair missing slates, repair broken rhones PLUMBING – replace washers on taps ELECTRICAL  – remove sockets, repair security lights To request a small repair you can complete our online Care & Repair Small Repair Request Form  Alternatively, you can download and complete a copy of the Care & Repair Small Repairs Request Form once complete you can email this document to [email protected] for review.
