Cordale has always insisted that it must use its housing-led investment to create employment and training opportunities for local people and tackle the underlying social and economic issues that stigmatised Renton. Cordale has initiated or participated in a number of initiatives that have created over 100 jobs including traditional and modern apprenticeships, construction jobs, administrative posts and professional trainees.
An example of an initiative to develop the capacity of young people is the Employment Ladder.
The Employment Ladder is an ongoing initiative that provides training and employability skills (ground maintenance and construction) for some of the most marginalised young people within Renton. It incrementally increases the self confidence and employability of participants in order to help them find full time sustainable employment linked to the Associations capital programme.
