Cordale today

Over the past 17 years Cordale Housing Association has time and again proved it has the ‘Midas’ touch.

With the governance of a strong voluntary Management Committee CHA has worked with a range of partners to transform Renton from an area where properties were almost impossible to let to a community where there is a housing list for rented accommodation and house prices have more than doubled.

In 2010 the dedication, commitment and hard work of the Association’s Committee and staff was recognised as being of the highest calibre when Cordale became only the 27th company in the United Kingdom to receive Investors In People (IIP) prestigious gold award.

Just months later they received accreditation from the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) for their innovative approach to resident involvement, making them only the 5th housing association in Scotland, and the first of its size, to attain this standard.

Lesley Baird, Chief Executive of TPAS Scotland said: “We continue to be impressed by Cordale’s ability to find new ways of engaging with the community. Over the past decade Cordale have worked closely with local people to identify problems and come up with solutions to improve the quality of life for people living in Renton.”

The Association is now busier than ever both within Renton, where they are working on their biggest project to date at the 30-acre Dalquhurn site, and hopefully elsewhere in West Dunbartonshire should they be successful in the partial stock transfer process.

While planning to move into new areas and dramatically increase their property portfolio Cordale’s team of dedicated staff has worked hard to ensure standards are not allowed to slip.

And their tenants in Renton have confirmed the Association is doing a great job with the most recent Tenants Satisfaction Survey registering the highest results to date.

The survey, carried out by Management Information (Scotland) Ltd, asked tenants how satisfied they were with Cordale as a landlord, with the staff team, their policies and their community.

In all 16 categories Cordale scored above the MI average, which is based on 87 housing associations across Scotland, and in 13 out of 16 categories the Association improved on the previous survey with three remaining the same at 100% satisfaction.

Stephen Gibson, Director of Cordale Housing Association, said: “Both the Gold Award from Investors in People and the TPAS accreditation are fantastic accolades for the Association to receive as they recognise that our Committee and staff team is one of the best in Scotland.

“This is born out in the Tenant Satisfaction Survey which lets us know our residents are happy with the service we are providing”.
