Positive About Disabled People

Jobcentre Plus have approved Cordale Housing Association as a user of the Disability Symbol. This means we are committed to employing disabled people and will:
- Interview all applicants with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and consider them on their abilities
- Ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss, at any time, but at least once a year, with disable employees what can be done to make sure they can develop and use their abilities
- Make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment
- Take action to make sure all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work
- Each year, review the five commitments and what has been achieved, plans ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about the progress and future plans.

In December 2011 Cordale Housing Association was awarded with the Healthy Working Lives Bronze award.
The purpose of HWL is to promote a healthier and safer workplace by reviewing working environments. There are many benefits from achieving this award, namely for the working environment as there will be a healthier motivated workforce. This will also reflect seriously on the reputation and culture of the organisation.
